Overview map | |
In a low lying position beside the Isla on the north side of Keith lies a small four storey building, once part of a much larger house. Built into the gable of an entrance lodge of the Strathisla-Glenlivet Distillery are two stones from the house. One has heraldry and the date 1695 and the other a coronet and the initials L.M.O. The present ruin is probably late 16th cen. but a castle was built here by George Ogilvie c1480 after he obtained the estate of Drumnakeith by marrying a daughter of the Earl of Huntly.
